About The Fantastic Teeth Program.

The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club, a program created by Masonic Home and School of Texas (MHS) to help children and parents learn to prevent painful dental problems and avoid expensive treatment, exceeded all expectations.  Thousands of children across Texas have received free prevent tooth decay kits.  The tremendous success of this program depends on Masonic Lodges launching this service in their community with free kits from MHS. Lodge members assemble the kits and deliver them to participating schools.  MHS coordinates with local schools and provides press releases about the project to local news organizations.

The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club began as a pilot program of Masonic Home and School of Texas (MHS) in the spring of 2010. A key factor to its success is the involvement of Masonic Lodge members. MHS provides 300 free kits per Lodge for first graders in the community.

Schools are contacted by MHS for approval and scheduling of kit delivery. Masonic Lodge members stuff the kits and deliver them to the school. Some schools also allow Lodge members to host a “How To Have Healthy Teeth” lesson for the children.

Through the Fantastic Teeth Fan Club, MHS provides these kits, at no charge, to interested Masonic Lodges. Your lodge involvement will be recognized with a Brighter Futures certificate and on the MHS website. Lodges or individual Masons may also be recognized in MHS and Masonic publications.

Fantastic Teeth 2016

This year our brothers got together on January 27, 2016, to start the preparations for the bags with goodies for the first graders. We packed some toothbrushes and toothpaste with stickers and instructions on how to brush their teeth.

At Zaffirini Elementary we had 4 Masons in attendance and the nurse gave the presentation.  Since she was a former student of mine, she allowed me to give the TEST.  At Bonnie Garcia Elementary we had 3 Masons in attendance and the nurse asked me to do the presentation which I have done before in that school.  I had called them a few days before so we knew who was doing what.  Yesterday afternoon we had 2 Masons go to Alma Pierce Elementary and I did the presentation there which I have done before.  The nurse took us to the gym and then turned everything over to the  PE coaches which were very helpful.  Jerry Sparenberg has helped in all three schools with “ Al E. Gator”.  We have the other 2 schools on Tuesday and have 3 Masons signed up to be at each school.  I talked to Skip Smith and he and his wife have gone to 3 of the Zapata schools and plan to be at the last one next week.  At Oilton Elementary in Bruni, I do not have a report since the wife of the Mason taking care of that school has cancer and was in the hospital but I know they will get the packets to the school.
